scanning drawing -> colourable graphic

I have a sheet of paper with a pencil drawing on it. I wish to scan it and colour it in.

I know when you scan pencil/pen in it has gaps in the lines which need to be filled in.

Is there any quick way to fill them in so that i can colour parts of the drawing?

How detailed is the drawing? If it's fairly simple, you might be able to turn the scan-contrast right up and generate a black outline over transparency from that - then put the outline over another (normal) scan.

its not that detailed, i don`t think, as it is a cartoon superman drawing only drawn with a pencil with no shading.

brothercake i`ll try that
